Itliong Vera Cruz Middle School Athletics

At Itliong Vera Cruz Middle School, we offer twelve Athletic programs open to all grade levels.  Each of our sports teams participates in the SACMAL (Southern Alameda County Middle Athletic League), which has 10 other participating schools from Union City, Castro Valley, Newark, San Leandro, and San Lorenzo.  If you are eligible you can automatically join Track and Field (boys and girls), Wrestling (boys and girls), and Cross Country (boys and girls).  If you are eligible you can try out for the remaining teams, which make cuts: Girls Softball, Co-Ed Flag Football, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer, Golf, Girls, and Boys Volleyball.

Before you may participate (or even try out) for a Sports team at IVCMS, 

you must have your parents complete the online Registration through Familyid.com.

IVCMS offers a balanced athletic program for students in grades 6-8.

There is NO after-school activity bus, so students need to arrange for transportation home after practices and games.

The following is a schedule of seasons. *Beginning the 2018-19 School Year 


Season 1: September - November

Boys Basketball:     Tryouts Tuesday, September 4, 2018

All first games will begin at 4:00 pm and end approximately at 5:15 pm. The second game will begin at 5:30pm. Each student is responsible for finding a ride to the game. Parents may pick up their child from away games after checking in with the coach.

Track and Field (Coed):

All meets will begin at 4:00 pm and end approximately at 6:30 pm. Each student is responsible for finding a ride to the meet. Parents may pick up their child from away meets after checking in with the coach.

Girls Softball:

All games will begin at 4:00 pm and end approximately at 5:30 pm. Each student is responsible for finding a ride to the game. Parents may pick up their child from away games after checking in with the coach.

Season 2: October - December

Boys Volleyball:

All games will begin at 4:00 pm and end approximately at 5:15 pm. Each student is responsible for finding a ride to the game. Parents may pick up their child from away games after checking in with the coach.

All games will begin at 4:00 pm and end approximately at 5:30 pm. Each student is responsible for finding a ride to the game. Parents may pick up their child from away games after checking in with the coach.

Season 3: January - April

Girls Basketball:

All games will begin at 4:00 pm and end approximately at 5:30 pm. Each student is responsible for finding a ride to the game. Parents may pick up their child from away games after checking in with the coach.

Wrestling:

The first practice will be Tuesday, November 27th in the MPR. Practice will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3:00pm until 4:30pm. There are no tryouts for being on the wrestling team, but players must have a 2.0 and No F's to participate.

Co-ed Flag Football:

All games will begin at 4:00 pm and end approximately at 5:30 pm. Each student is responsible for finding a ride to the game. Parents may pick up their child from away games after checking in with the coach.
Sign Up Meeting:     Thursday, February 28th, 2019 after school in the gym form 3:05-3:30pm.
Tryouts:                  Tuesday, March 5th, 2019 on the field from 3:15-4:45 (Must register to tryout)

All matches will begin at 3:30 pm, except the Championship match which begins at 2pm.  Each student is responsible for finding a ride to practice and matches. Parents may pick up their child from away matches after checking in with the coach.

Eligibility

Students qualify to play on after school athletic teams by earning at least a 2.0 GPA with no F's during the trimester prior to the athletic season. Students will remain on the team by maintaining a 2.0 GPA and not being placed on Exclusion during the trimester/ season of play.
Students with one "F", or less than a 2.00 grade point average may be put on an academic probationary status. At the deficiency period
the Coach, Athletic Director and/or administrator will review the grades of all students on this probationary status and will have the authority to remove the student from the team at their discretion.
Any student placed on the exclusion list may be ineligible to participate for the remainder of that season.

Students usually practice Monday - Thursday from 3:00-4:30 with athletic contests during the week. Practice schedules will be determined by the athletic director and coach.

All athletes will honor the game, respect their opponents and game officials. We will teach student-athletes to be trustworthy, respectful, responsible, fair, caring, and a good citizen. We ask that all spectators do the same.

Education Code 221.9 Notification

Pursuant to Education Code section 221.9, and beginning in the 2016-17 school year and every year thereafter, Itliong Vera Cruz Middle School is required to publicly report information regarding its competitive athletics to include total enrollment at Itliong Vera Cruz Middle School, classified by gender; the number of pupils enrolled at Itliong Vera Cruz Middle School who participate in competitive athletics, classified by gender; and the number of boys' and girls' teams, classified by sport and by competition level.
